VORSABÆR II
This 3-hour small-group horseback riding tour takes place at our Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland. After meeting your guide in the riding hall, horses are selected according to rider size and experience before setting out into the countryside as a group.
With additional time and distance, the route explores further across farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Riders should be comfortable controlling a horse independently, as pace and gait may vary depending on group ability and conditions. Longer stretches of tölt are often possible during this extended ride.
Tour Description
The small-group 3-hour tour is suited for riders with prior horseback-riding experience who would like a more dynamic, immersive ride through the South Iceland countryside. The extended duration allows for varied terrain and a steady rhythm, while the guide adjusts the pace to the group's overall ability.
Although riding takes place in a shared departure, group sizes remain limited to ensure attentive supervision and guidance. The landscape reflects daily life at a family-run breeding farm rather than a high-volume riding operation, offering open views and natural terrain shaped by agricultural activity.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
What to Expect
-
You will meet your guide and fellow riders at the riding hall and receive a safety introduction. Helmets are mandatory and provided. Riders must be comfortable mounting, steering, and controlling their horse independently.
-
Horses are selected based on rider experience and confidence. Our Icelandic horses are responsive, steady, and well-suited for longer rides.
-
The group rides further into the countryside surrounding the farm, across open farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Sustained stretches of tölt and varied pacing are common, depending on ability and conditions.
-
After returning to the stable area, there is time to dismount safely and reflect on the ride with your guide.

Why Ride at Vorsabær II
Vorsabær II is a working Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland, not a high-volume riding stable. Horses are bred, raised, and trained on the farm, and riding experiences take place alongside daily farm life rather than in a commercial riding center.
