VORSABÆR II

This 3-hour private horseback riding experience at Vorsabær II takes place at our Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland. After meeting your guide in the riding hall, horses are selected according to rider size and experience before setting out into the countryside.

With additional time and distance, this ride explores further across farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Riders should be comfortable controlling a horse independently, as the pace may vary depending on ability and conditions. Longer stretches of Tölt are often possible, allowing riders to experience the unique smoothness of the Icelandic horse.

Tour Description

The private 3-hour tour is suited for riders with previous experience who would like a more immersive ride through the South Iceland countryside. The extended duration allows for varied terrain and a more natural rhythm, while your guide adjusts pace and route according to the group’s ability.

As a family-run breeding farm, Vorsabær II offers riding in a landscape shaped by daily farm life rather than designed specifically for tourism. The longer format provides time to settle into the movement of the horse and appreciate the open surroundings at a steady and confident pace.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

What to Expect

  • You will meet your guide at the riding hall and receive a safety introduction. Helmets are mandatory and provided. Riders should be able to mount, steer, and control their horse independently.

  • Horses are carefully selected based on rider experience and confidence. Our Icelandic horses are responsive, steady, and well-suited for longer rides.

  • The route travels further into the countryside surrounding the farm, across open farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Depending on ability and conditions, riders may experience sustained stretches of tölt and varied pacing.

  • After returning to the stable area, there is time to dismount safely and reflect on the ride with your guide.

Why Ride at Vorsabær II

Vorsabær II is a working Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland, not a high-volume riding operation. Horses are bred, raised, and trained on the farm, and riding experiences take place alongside daily farm life rather than in a commercial riding center.
