Farm visits at Vorsabær II offer an opportunity to step inside a working family-run Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland. During the visit, you will meet our horses in the stable and learn how they are bred, raised, and trained as part of our long-term breeding program.

In addition to horses, the farm is also home to Icelandic sheep and goats - traditional settlement-era breeds that have been part of Icelandic farming since settlement and remain an integral part of rural life today.

Guests who would like to experience the horses from the saddle may also explore our horseback riding tours.

 
 
 
 

Tour Description

 

This guided farm visit in South Iceland is suitable for guests of all ages who are curious about Icelandic horses and rural life. Your host will explain the history of the Icelandic horse, its unique gaits, and the role of breeding in maintaining the breed's quality and character.

You will have the opportunity to meet the horses up close in a calm and controlled environment. The visit takes place primarily indoors in the stable area and is not a riding tour.

  • Meet selected horses in the stable area and learn about their temperament, training, and daily care.

  • Depending on the season, you may also see Icelandic sheep and goats. These traditional breeds have been part of Icelandic farming since settlement and remain an important part of rural agricultural life.

  • Learn how Icelandic horses are bred and raised, and how careful selection supports the long-term health and quality of the breed.

  • There is time to ask questions about the horses, farm life, and the Icelandic horse tradition.
